We have a few different WhatsApp groups in our community, each one with its own rules :)

Chat

This is the main chat group. We treat this group more as a discussion forum than a chat—that's the only way it remains useful. :) Read https://nohello.net/ before posting. Your messages should always include full context and be broadly useful to the 200+ people in this group.

For posting links:

1. Helpful resources/blog posts/book summaries/etc. Do not ever forward links to resources without any context. Always add

a 1-3 sentences summary, and
at least one specific lesson/insight you got from it.

2. For any other links/events/videos/.. - message admin before posting

3. Ads/self-promos are banned

Hiring

Group for hiring and job ads from your fellow engineering managers - no external recruiters allowed

1. Only suggest people if you are willing to vouch for them; forward CVs only if you are confident in their abilities

2. When posting a job opening, aim to be as helpful as possible - the more useful details (such as location, 1-2 sentences about the team/manager/company, company stage, etc.) are better. Always post target total comp - or at least a range for the base

Do you want to organize a social outing after/before a meetup or some other day? This is the group for you!

Memes / Banter / Casual chats

This is by far the most active group for the most dedicated SEMers; prepare yourself for many inappropriate K8s jokes
